Qadri Shattari Sufi order is the branch of Shattari Sufi order observed in South Asia headed by Sayyad Mushtaque Husain Ali Mast Qadri Shattari. The spiritual Chain of this Tarika is a transmission (‘’silsila’’)  transfer from Hazrat Muhammad  (peace be upon him) through Imam Ali including Hazrat Bayazid Bastami Rahmatullah alaih (753-845 CE). The Shattari order is so a branch of the Tayfuri Khan wada. Sheikh Sirajuddin Abdullah Shattar (d. 1406 CE), great grandson (fifth generation) of Sheikh Shihabuddin Suhrawardi reputedly established the order. (Founder of Suharwardiya Khan wad). He was seventh lineage disciple to Bayazid Bustami and was praised with Khilafat (Spiritual Deputyhood) from the 14 Sufi Tayfuriya orders. His teacher Sheikh Muhammad Taifur appreciated the rigors he encountered in obtaining this station (MAQAM) and gave him the honorifics ‘Shattar’.

Originating in Persia, Sheikh Abdullah Shattar delivered the order, and its instructions to India. According to Idries Shah, Shattar made India his home in the fifteenth century. He judged disciples even with their eating patterns and gives his guidance only to those who made excellent judge to the foodstuff. Dressed in magnificent robes he roamed on streets beating drums and invite humans to witness God in his existence, roaming from one monastery to another, and made established the method. His practice was to contact the chief of a Sufi group and declare, ‘Teach me your method, share it with me. If you will not, I appeal to you to share mine.’
